Charcoal Abstract 03

Our hard-to-impress drawing teacher took a few painting easels and wrapped paper around it and told us to draw. He liked it when you zoomed in super close when drawing the subject matter.

It was days before Halloween, so the hooks on top of the easels looked liked clawed hands to me. I made the tape on the paper into a belt in my drawing, implying a straight-jacket look.

I went against his beloved "zoomed in" style of drawing... and was surprised he actually liked my piece. At the end of each class period we'd line up our drawings in the long art hallway outside the classroom, and he'd pick and choose which ones he liked (and didn't like). He always went over my pieces, except this one that he claimed he liked.
